5 love languages: what is yours?

      I love this topic :)

      My five are:
      1. Quality Time
      2. Physical Touch
      3. Words of Affirmation
      4. Acts of Service
      5. Gifts

I've also noticed that problems can arise when the other person doesn't share these top qualities. It's good to think about what the other person's may be, or if needed, to ask them :)

5 love languages: what is yours?

The same academic paper that I referenced above ( https://benthamopen.com/contents/pdf/TOCOMMJ/TOCOMMJ-7-1.pdf ) compared Chapman's force-choice model with Egbert and Polk's (2006) validated 20-item Love Language Scale using continuous scores.

5 love languages: what is yours?

Mine is quality time. Quality meaning that the other person is truly present, attentive, listening. Quality conversations are important to me too.

5 love languages: what is yours?

I've always known it was quality time, can't imagine any other choice for an INTP, and this was recently confirmed after getting an 8 on the test. What suprised me was the 7 I got on both acts of service and receiving gifts. I'm normally to lazy to do any acts (guess that's why it's a LOVE language) and getting gifts gives me almost as much anxiety as giving them.

I speak in 'acts of service' but better understand 'physical touch' in response.

Words never do justice, time is only 'quality' if something was accomplished and there aren't any gifts I need.

5 love languages: what is yours?

I tried, unsuccessfully, to find a generally accessible link to Laura K. Guerrero & Alana M. Chavez' original work on "Relational Maintenance in Cross-Sex Friendships Characterized by Different Types of Romantic Intent: An Exploratory Study." Their 55 relationship maintenance behaviors fell into the following categories:
      Routine contact and activity
      Emotional support and positivity
      Relationship talk
      Instrumental support
      Social networking
      Antisocial behavior
      Humor and gossip
      Talk about outside romance
      Flirtation
      Avoidance of negativity

      For now, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-Sex_Friendships

5 love languages: what is yours?

My primary languages are physical touch and quality time, which I'd say are closely tied. Words of affirmation are enjoyable but not necessary since I feel like actions are far more important. Likewise acts of service are nice but not needed, unless I'm really sick or in a terrible emotional state. Receiving gifts is nice but I've never seen it as an expression of someone's love.

      My Exact Results:
      11 Physical Touch
      9 Quality Time
      6 Words of Affirmation
      4 Acts of Service
      0 Receiving Gifts
